Unknown words in CR questions

by rayapudisandeep » Wed Jul 21, 2010 8:12 am
Hi all, This is my first post in the forum. I started my CR preparation with CR Bible. When I try to solve questions I encounter many unknown words. For example, consider the stimuli below:

Human beings have cognitive faculties that are superior to those of other animals, and once humans become aware of these, they cannot be made happy by anything that does not involve gratification of these faculties.

I afraid my vocabulary is not up to the standards of GMAT. I couldn't guess meaning of words cognitive faculty, gratification from stimuli above. I was under assumption that making a logical sense of the argument is good enough to answer any CR questions. But it doesn't seem so. Vocabulary seems to play an important role. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) I understand that GMAT stimuli covers wider range of subjects, but so-called 'important word list' may help. Any help with this problem?

Thanks,
Sandeep

We are not required to prepare any vocab for GMAT. We have to prepare the same for GRE. This is logical exam.

One quick advice, whenever you see any new word do a quick meaning search of the same. This way you will keep that word and its meaning in mind and recall the same nxt time. (I do the same)
