I guess this is an indirect evidence, because of the word "geological evidence"
the dictionary meaning of Geology is "A science that deals with the history of the earth as recorded in rocks"

Hi Arora , how have you been ?
I found this in the MGMAT RC Guide and this line is referred to in an inference question . The Guide holds this as a direct evidence . I am finding RC very ambiguous .
