Consider the following points Akshay:

- Your Environment related work and leadership experience sounds interesting. It can be a bit tough to show substantial skills and achievements in a Test role in general - so you'd have to think hard and deep around that. This also means your task is cut out for the post-MBA plans story formulation.

- The ECs/Sports bit is a strong point. However unless some of that Sport thing has continued after college, the recency effect would mean slightly limited mileage out of those achievements.

- The GMAT can definitely do with that boost. For reasons mentioned here, we do not speculate on school selection. However, the overall profile, if positioned well, should be pretty interesting for the Indian schools in general.

Hope this helps some.

Cheers,

Hi Akshay,
You have a good profile to get into Canadian Business Schools. Getting a scholarship will not be easy specially if you're targeting the Top 10 Canadian programs. But if you look at top 11-20 you have a decent shot. Plus if you pursue a 1 year MBA such as Ted Rogers, Ryerson you can further reduce the cost of living. Basically, you're looking a around 50% scholarship if your budget is 35 lakhs. A GMAT score of 720-730 will definitely improve your changes of both getting in and a scholarships.

You also have a decent shot at Nanyang & S.P. Jain. As for IIMs and ISB, you are below average but can improve your profile with GMAT and extra curricular/community service activities.
If you have international work ex in the US, that definitely distinguishes your profile quite a bit. If you want to discuss your profile further I would be happy to schedule a free consulting call. Hope this helps.
Good Luck !

Best,

Hi Akshay,
We think you have a good profile and an interesting mix of work-experience.
On the GMAT side, a score of 690 puts you on the fence and higher score will definitely boost your chances, and it's great that you're already working towards it.
We're really intrigued by the work experience, primarily because of the choice of domains. We think that if you can dig into work experience to find stories that demonstrating a business/leadership impact, you may have a winner.
On choice of B-schools, ISB, NUS and Nanyang are definitely good bets, you may find yourself on the lower end of work-experience for the IIM Executive MBA programs.
We'd like to know your profile a little better, to help you short list schools that suit your requirements (and budgets of course!) Please have a look our free B-school selector here and feel free to reach out in case of queries.
