INSEAD ILPSE Vs UCLA PGPX

by vchristian » Sat Feb 11, 2017 7:07 am
Hi Experts,
I am evaluating my suitability for INSEAD ILPSE and UCLA PGPX, which are both part time executive programs for working professionals. Considering opportunity cost and sabbatical from work, I am not keen on pursuing a full time program. I see that post completion, we do get exclusive alumni benefits among other things.
Are these programs targeted specifically considering the Indian market ? I do understand, we have campus visits to INSEAD & UCLA campus for international immersions as well. Any pointers from experts will be highly appreciated.

Thanks
Vandan

Yes, those programs are designed for Indian candidates though bear in mind that EMBAs have very limited pull in general. Read here.

If you are exploring these options, I would also recommend checking out the ISB PGPMAX program in case you qualify.

Hi, Thanks for the revert. Well, I do have considered ISB PGPMAX but the cost of program tad on the higher bracket and it's something that I am not willing to spend. The cost of PGPMAX comes upto 40 lac for a year program.
The reason behind my inclination categorically towards INSEAD ILPSIE or UCLA PGPX primarily is based on direct feed back from current cohort as well as alumni. I am not expecting a major career shift post this course but yes, i do expect a switch of role from technical to managerial.
My query is - how these courses are perceived from Indian Market / industry per se and how well are they recognized.
Thanks
Vandan

Well, as you may have read in the article I shared, the maximum mileage from EMBA is possible at your current recruiter. Beyond that, it really depends and very hazy. UCLA PGPX program isn't well know, INSEAD slightly better off but only slightly.

Cheers,

You may want to check out Cornell's CEMP as well.

I believe given the program design and program fee, UCLA PGPX wins over INSEAD ILPSE due to following factors:
1) UCLA PGPX is definitely much more affordable than INSEAD ILPSE (overpriced?)
2) UCLA PGPX is much more extensive program (in terms of curriculum and number of class days) than ILPSE or for that matter as compared to any other program from a top global school available here
3) UCLA alumni and UCLA brand recognition has much more global footprint as compared to INSEAD which is limited to Asia and Europe.
4) With classroom modules in Los Angeles you will be exposed to a much more vibrant business culture and experience.
