angle ABC = 90 degrees (angle subtending a diameter)

AB^2 + BC^2 = AC^2

AC = 2, BC = 1 -> AB^2 + 1 = 4

AB^2 = 3
AB = root(3)

Area of triangle = 1/2 x base x (perpendicular) height
= 1/2 x BC x AB
= 1/2 x 1 x root(3)
= root(3)/2

B.

Drop a perpendicular bisector of OC from B. Call this new point D. OB =1. OD-.5. Use Pythagorus on OBD and find BD =(3^.5)/2. BD is height of ABC. Base is AC= 2. A = 1/2 x 2 x 3^.5)/2
