EMBA questions

by alexdallas » Sun Jul 12, 2009 2:13 pm
Hello,

I currently have 4 years work experience- 2.5 supervisorial experience.

I know most EMBAS require at least 5 years managerial experience.

My questions are:

- do you think I have a chance to get accepted into a reputable EMBA program, considering my work experience?
- is the EMBA held in higher respect than the MBA? i know its almost double the cost, i am wondering if it's worth it?

thank you

Good questions....why are you leaning towards the EMBA? Is it so you can continue working? If so, is not your employer picking up the tab? Most EMBA programs would consider it a red flag if your employer is not paying for the tuition, since that is one indication that at least your employer thinks you are ready for such a program. In general, the EMBA programs are not as selective as regular MBA programs because they are big profit centers for the school and their data do not get figured in for the rankings. To answer your other questions, the full time MBA programs are generally more highly regarded by recruiters. 99% of the time the EMBA students go back to work for their current employer post-MBA. Hope this info helps.
