HOW TO CALCULATE GPA?

by kcs » Thu Jul 07, 2016 11:56 pm
HI,i am from India.I have done my B.A (3 YEARS) AND M.A(2 YEARS).How to calculate GPA?

B.A HISTORY(UNIVERSITY OF MADRAS)52.8%
M.A.PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION(INDIRA GANDHI UNIV)67.38%
For calculating GPA, do we need to consider only master degree or average of both degrees?

You do not need to convert the GPA to 4 point scale.
Just report what is written on your transcript. The schools have enough data to interpret it accurately.

Hi,
When the schools say GPA they are gently talking about your undergraduate degree. Your GPA depends on your relative score and so a very rough starting point is your percentile. It is 100% true that schools will use their own conversion table but your own satistfaction check your percentile and see roughly where that fits on a 4 point scale. I would then add or deduct 10-15% based on where your school sits among other schools.
This is very very rough guide but hope this helps.

You need to report the performance for both degrees separately. Also, you do not need to convert your percentage marks to a GPA for most programs. They use their own internal callibration (changes from one school to another) to map Indian percentages to a GPA.
