How much scratch sheets are enough ?

by goelmohit2002 » Mon Jul 27, 2009 11:46 am
Hi All,

Can someone please tell how much scratch sheets are enough(in general) for complete AWA + Quant = Verbal.....

Can we ask for all the required number of scratch at the start of the exam....or the same is provided one by one as you finish the same....or at the end of each section i.e. at the time of the break ?

Thanks
Mohit

For scratch paper you'll get one double sided laminated graph paper set (like this [url]https://www.manhattangmat.com/storeitems ... atid=1[url]). You can ask for a second when you start, but it's up to the proctor if they'll give it to you. Once you finish it, you raise your hand and they'll bring you a new one -- you can do this as many times as you want within reason.

Thanks.

Can't we ask for atleast 2-3 scratch sheets at the beginning to avoid the disturbance....?

Already we will be hard pressed for time....why to spend time in asking for scratch sheet in between :-)

You can ask, but it's up to the proctor if they say yes. If they say no, I'd keep working and raise your hand when you've got ~1 (single side) sheet left. Work on that until they bring you the new one and take the old one away.

https://www.testdayscratch.com/

This vendor sells a replica of the actual thing as well that you might want to consider. I do recommend practising with a dry erase marker and a whiteboard at least to get the feel of it. It is very different than pencil and paper.

Same deal with the pens. My test centre was nice and gave me two which i rotated, but if yours starts to get dry, raise your hand (or motion to the administrator that you want a new pad/pen) and ask for a new one (continue with the test while you are waiting).

if, as i suspect, you are in india, check www.gmatscratchpad.com

Disclaimer I reviewed their product

Also, as far as i know, in india they only give you 1pad and 1pen at the time of the exam. you should raise your hand as soon as you start on the last page, and they will replace it for you.

A few people have said that they've never used up all 5pages, especially for the AWA as you have only 30mins to type out everything. Dont waste your time writing on the pad and then typing, at the end of 30mins, whatever you've entered will be considered as your response so be careful.

I used up all of my first book.

For the AWA, you can always just type your plan into the text box and delete as you write the paragraph/at the end.

Unless you get fancy and wanna draw a mind map or something....
