How indicative are Knewton Prep tests?

by yourshail123 » Tue Oct 16, 2012 1:38 pm
I gave my 2nd Knewton Prep exam. And I was pretty confident that I will score better than my previous scores. However, as I went through the test, every ques was such a mediocre level that I finished my Quant section well before 17 mins. I noticed during the test itself that all the ques I am getting are very simple. I am concerned why it did not come up with higher difficulty ques at all. Moreover, I saw that my series of correct answers was of 6,6,8,7 (some what similar on the Verbal section as well), and none of the answers were wrong in a series on Quant whereas there was series of 3,4 wrong answers on Verbal.
The fact that I was answering correct in series itself tells that I was going good but nowhere the difficulty level I found challenging.
And finally, when I saw the scores was much annoyed - usually my scores would be Q(45/46) and V(29/30) and on this one it was Q(37) V(24).
Can anyone tell is it usual for Knewton Prep Tests?

Honestly, I don't find that any of the 3rd party CAT exams are that great. The issue is they have to gather a lot of data on the questions for the score to be an accurate reflection. Worry more about learning what mistakes you make and how to fix them, than the actual result.

Thanks Jim!! Focusing on analyzing the mistakes is the key. However, such tests (as mentioned in the post) doesn't reflect anything. I would rather consider it to test the stamina only. :)
