depressesed property values..I have a confusion between THEY or IT...

I rule out E because it changes the meaning.
E says they "CAN" however, A states that they "ARE".

A for me as well..

Firstly " Depressed Property Values " shud be addressed with THEY..

Then WHOSE correctly gives the meaning that life savings are of home owners and joins the proceeding sentence nicely..
Work Hard till You succeed.. N even after that..!!

I am confused in the A option. I am thinking that THEY after the comma is modifying large investors.

Can some one plz explain.

(A) they are potentially devastating for homeowners, whose
(B) they can potentially devastate homeowners in that their - needs to be parallel with representing
(C) for homeowners they are potentially devastating, because their
(D) for homeowners, it is potentially devastating in that their - akward
(E) it can potentially devastate homeowners, whose - needs to be parallel with representing

So I was hesitating between A and C, so A is my first choice.

I hate 1000 SC, nevertheless:.

While depressed property values can hurt some large investors, they are potentially devastating for home-owners, whose equity—in many cases representing a life’s savings—can plunge or even disappear.

I don' like A because it uses their in reference to values

(A) they are potentially devastating for homeowners, whose
(B) they can potentially devastate homeowners in that their
here their refers to homeowners, in that their can be changed by whose

(C) for homeowners they are potentially devastating, because their
Compare with:
While depressed property values can hurt some large investors
It is not parrallel

(D) for homeowners, it is potentially devastating in that their
IT (sing.) refers to VALUES (plural)

(E) it can potentially devastate homeowners, whose
IT (sing.) refers to VALUES (plural)

Hence, A

While Subject + Verv, Subject + Verb.
why do we need to use "they" after "while" clause?
Here, subject of "while"clause is "values"-plural subject. That's why.
FYI- "they" refer to "values", not "large investors". Values are potentially devastating for home-owners, not investors are devatastating.

(A) they are potentially devastating for homeowners, whose (correct)
(B) they can potentially devastate homeowners in that their (can, potentially are redundant meaning. in gmat land, "in that" is too formal so it's no-no and besides, it's wordy)
(C) for homeowners they are potentially devastating, because their ( we need a subject here after "while" clause)
(D) for homeowners, it is potentially devastating in that their (we need a subject here after "while" clause)
(E) it can potentially devastate homeowners, whose ( can and potentially... redundant meaning)

So, A is correct.

i feel "while values can hurt investors"....."can devastate homeowners" are parallel, the only thing need justify is the use of "in that their".
