Introduction
This is a story of how I rose from a 660 to a 720 in GMAT within 3 months, becoming the top GMAT score holder at IMT, Ghaziabad. I had decided to do MBA post my engineering while I was in Vidyamandir classes, preparing for engineering exams. However, at that time, I was not sure how. It was only during my final year of engineering that I decided to appear for GMAT, increasing my chances of getting selected in top MBA programs outside India as well. But, one thing that I realized the hard way was that work experience is something that plays a huge importance in MBA admissions, and I had just a year's of work experience. But, more on that later.

Testing the waters
As soon as I graduated from engineering, I joined an organization that provided me with flexible working hours, while preparing for my GMAT exam. I began doing my bit of research on how to prepare for GMAT in the shortest possible time. I kept the official guide by GMAC for the day nearing the D-Day, and came across GyanOne by virtue of the great testimonials that GMAT veterans had for the company. I began my preparation with GyanOne. However, before indulging in any kind of preparation, I wanted to test the waters, and see where I stood, and how far do I need to go. So, I appeared for the actual GMAT exam before doing any preparation (thanks to the multiple attempts that one can take during a year). And volla! a disheartening 660 on my screen. I discussed my score with the GyanOne team, and considering my profile, they advised me to at least score a 720 to get admitted to a reputed institute, whether in India or outside. On that day, I remember, I was quite depressed and and apprehensive about my improvement. However, without thinking much, and trusting my guts, and dived into the water, and began with the preparation.

Preparation
I broke down each section of GMAT (Verbal, Quant, and Integrated Reasoning) topic wise, and basis on the difficulty level of questions. Along with my attempts, a deep analysis of each question that I got wrong while practicing, paid a lot. Not only did I appeared for timed small tests of GMAT every day for the next 3 months, but I also appeared for 4-hour mocks, the frequency of which increased to every alternate day towards the end of my preparation.

Initially I was not able to improve much, and began losing hope when my hard work was not showing results for the initial 2 months. However, I discussed with the GyanOne team, and changed my approach of tackling GMAT preparation. I spent the next 1 week in going through all the rules of GMAT again, understanding the rationale behind them, and not taking them by their word. After doing this exercise, when I again began appearing for small timed tests, I managed to achieve huge improvement in my overall scores. But, long RC passages where still a problem for a guy who was not habitual of sitting at one place, and going through a long and comprehensive piece of writing. So, I took up the challenge, and began practicing the hard level of RC passages in a timed manner, post which, the easy and medium level of passages seemed like a cakewalk to me. By the last 2 weeks of my preparation, I began appearing for mocks every alternate day, analyzing the same on the days in between. To my surprise, I began scoring in the range of 760-780, and that too, quite frequently.

The ultimate success
Now, I had decided that it is time to set the date, and appear for the real exam. I had set my birth date, August 31 as D-Day. After a long night of disturbed sleep, I appeared for my exam. After 4 hours of being grilled by the exam, I had the sweetest present on my screen, a 720, the combined result of my 3 months of relentless hard work and that of the GyanOne team. When I took admission in IMT, Ghaziabad, I was informed by the admission department that I am the highest GMAT score holder at the institute, and was covered by GMAC in an interview for the same.
