720, 48/41, 94th!!!!!

Booyah....I was aiming for 700+, and rocked a 720!!!

I wrote a long post the other day where I described my strategy, but they marked it as "spam"...so here's a summary:

What I used:
  • MGMAT complete package (~$240)
    GMAT Club iPhone App ($15)
    MGMAT iPhone App (with package)
    Powerscore LSAT prep (from last year when, when I wanted to be a lawyer and took my LSATs haha) (>$1000, but I took a course. All you need is the Logical Reasoning Bible which I think is like $40)
    ...four years of (rusty) engineering math (priceless? lol)
How I used it:
I studied for basically 1 week straight (took time off work) before my test. I did all the problems from the OG Quant guide, and some from the full version. I didn't bother practicing additional verbal questions since after I was already good at the CR and RC from the LSAT...a quick skim of MGMAT's SC guide sorted the other stuff out.
Prior to that I had been using the iPhone app while commuting read some of the MGMAT's books for another week.

Total study time:

probably 75 hrs in total spread over ~20 days.

Score progression on the practice simulators:
  • March 11/2010 --> 620 (MGMAT CAT1)
    March 12/2010 --> 640 (MGMAT CAT2)
    March 17/2010 --> 670 (MGMAT CAT3)
    March 18/2010 --> 710 (gmat prep 1)
    March 19/2010 --> 690 (MGMAT CAT4)
    March 19/2010 --> 720 (gmat prep 2)
    March 20/2010 --> 720 (The real thing)
One other thing: I had a sign with "750, no f****** prisoners" hanging over my desk...that was my "stretch goal", and every time I felt motivation waning, I would look up and see that, and fire off a few more practice problems...lol whatever works right??

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!

Thanks! Just gotta stay focused and you will succeed. If studying for the GMAT has taught me anything other than how rapidly solve inequalities and correct parallelism errors, it's that you need to set a goal for yourself, and keep your eye on the prize no matter how tough it gets.

"No prisoners" was my mantra haha...

I'm sure you will own the test, KN2130!!!
