Got 640 ; mixed reactions on the score

by Auzbee » Wed Jan 02, 2008 6:00 pm
Wrote my GMAT today and got 640 (Q 47 V31). I have mixed reaction to the score as I had been scoring in the 660 ~690 range in the practise tests. I was expecting a higher score for the Quant since I was able to crack most of the problems except a few for which I wasn't very sure (one of the Geometry DS question knocked me off though it looked simple). Also the first few questions in the Quant test were relatively tough that made me slow down. First one was a moderate level probability question :?

Quant has been my strong area. I know that I was weak in verbal and so 31 doesn't surprise me though I had higher expectations. My main practise for today's date had been for last three weeks only.

What's next - I don't have much time to re-take so I am gonna live with it. I am applying to very selected colleges, with UW-Seattle being top on my list.

Does anyone here know how good/bad is this score to be atleast qualified for the next round?

Hi auzbee:

A 640 is still a pretty solid score, congrats! I think that score should be in range with UW. I agree, it's time for you to focus on your apps!

Good luck with your application! I look forward to reading your post in the Admission Success Stories area. :)

Thanks Eric.

I need to mention that BTG is one of the quintessential resource for anyone planning to write the GMAT. You and other folks of this community have made this site an excellent online resource. Going through various sub-forums helped me a lot during my preparation.

You would be seeing me off and on on this community as I wade through the next steps. I would post a small debrief about my experience once I catch up with rest of the world outside GMAT preparation.
