OG Sentence Correction # 41

The Gorton-Dodd bill requires that a bank disclose to their customers how long they will delay access to funds from deposited checks.

A. that a bank disclose to their customers how long they will delay access to funds from deposited checks.

B. a bank to disclose to their customers how long they will delay access to funds from deposited check.

C. that a bank disclose to its customers how long it will delay access to funds from deposited checks.

D. a bank that it should disclose to its customers how long it will delay access to funds from deposited checks.

E. that banks disclose to their customers how long access to funds from their deposited check is to be delayed

OA C

Please also explain the answer.

IMO it should be E. Even though the answer is lengthy, it uses correct plurality after bank/s, which none of the answers does.

A and B: pronoun error: uses 'their' to refer to 'bank.'
D: idiom error: the proper idiom is 'require X to Y' or 'require that X Y'
In E, the second 'their' is ambiguous: does it refer to customers or to banks?

IMO C

(A) that a bank disclose to their customers how long they will delay access to funds from deposited checks

"Their" Ambigious pronoun needs to refer to banks

(B) a bank to disclose to their customers how long they will delay access to funds from a deposited check

same as A
(C) that a bank disclose to its customers how long it will delay access to funds from deposited checks

(D) a bank that it should disclose to its customers how long it will delay access to funds from a deposited check

(E) that banks disclose to customers how long access to funds from their deposited check is to be delayed

In E, "their" can have either banks or customers as precedent. Hence there is pronoun ambiguity
