D

Statement (1) and (2) are enough.

What is OA?

i would also go with b

since k is not divisible by any odd number greater than 1, k has to be a multiple of 2 (since it is given it is greater than 1)

it cannot be D as u can have a number e.g 2^6 * 3 which will be divisible by 2^6 but it cannot be equal to 2^r as it contains an odd number.

pls confirm the ans

Hi Silivest,
I agree with u & RI, the ans should be B

stmt 1 : k= 2^10, k =2^5*7 INSUFF

stmt 2 : k is not divisible by any other odd nos greater than 1

In that case it cannot have any prime factor other than 2, coz all others are odd

hence k is either 2, or a power of 2, coz it cannot have any other prime factor

SUFF

B
Regards
Samir

I just want a clearer explanation,

when you say k can be 2^6*3 you mean 2^(6*3) or (2^6)*3?

Hi Hano,
ri2007 meant (2^6)*3, which is an example of a number containing an odd integer, 3.
