GMAT Score

by [email protected] » Sun Nov 11, 2012 12:55 am
Hi,

I took the Gmat for the second time on 8th Oct and I scored a heartbraking 390. q-26,v-19..The first time I took the GMAT I had scored 580. I still cant figure out what went wrong. Its ironical that I studied more and paid more to score less. What is more dissapointing is my plan to attend college next year are all together gone as the colleges that I want to apply to have deadlines by end of november.

I have always been a good student in school but the GMAT has been dissapointing me over and over again. In the practice tests also my scores were all over the place. I scored, 630,570 but never expected sucha low score coz I havent experienced this score ever in the practice tests also. Moreover, last time i scored a 48 in math. Being a non native speaker of english math has always been my strong point but scoring 26 was surprising especially when i could figure out every questions solving method in the next 50 secs after looking at the question. I am totally confused and have started having self doubts. Should i completely give up the idea of GMAT and a B-School and continue working or there is a way I can also score above 700? Please help.

Yes! you can definitely score more than 700 with the right kind of preparation.
Check the retaking strategies and work on your weak areas.

Given that your first score was 580 and your practice test scores were 630 and 570, a score of 390 suggests that you had a bit of a meltdown during your test. How did you feel? How was your time management?

With proper instruction and lots of practice, you can definitely achieve a 700+ score. However, it won't happen overnight.

You might consider signing up for BTG's free 60-Day Study Guide (https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/gmat-guide).

Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't - you're right.

Thanks Brent for the advice.I was on a ten day off before my exam. I work in Night shifts but during the leaves I changed my timings and started studying in the morning. my exam was in the afternoon so that made me tired and sleepy. I had difficulty concentrating. Also, in verbal my timing was totally messed up. But still I dint expect my score to drop soo low. Last time my quant score was 46 and this time that too dropped significantly.

I am not able to understand where am I going wrong everytime and how do I begin the journey again. I have another year to go since the colleges that I wanted to apply to have their deadline by Nov 30. So, yes 1 year can degfinately add to my work exp. but again I want to finish the GMAT Monster to concentrate on other things like my apps. Also, I am not sure if I should join weekend classes for Gmat.
