GMAT Retake!!!

by kauldheeraj » Wed Aug 19, 2009 10:17 pm
I have taken my GMAT once with a paltry score of 600. I was doing good in GMATPrep and Manhattan tests, averaging around 700. Scored bitterly in Verbal section.
I am taking it again this year and have given myself a period of 1.5 months to prepare since I already am aware of the syllabus and course materials.
Any suggestions on:
1. Whether taking GMAT again is going to effect my prospects, considering both my scores will be available. Do all the Universities consider both the scores?
2. Am I taking enough time for my preparation, or should I get myself more time?

1) Only two scores won't negatively impact your application - the vast majority of GMAT test takers take the test twice. Most universities will consider your highest score.

2) No one can tell you if 1 month is enough time to prepare. Jumping 100 points in a month is difficult, but it's been done before. I generally think people shouldn't schedule their tests until they are regularly (ie, on at least 3 consecutive, FULL-LENGTH [including AWA] practice tests, scoring at or above their target). You have to do what's right for you, no one can answer whether you've given yourself enough time to study.
