There are no legal limits, as there are for cod and haddock, on the size of monkfish that can be caught, a circumstance that contributes to their depletion through overfishing.

(A) There are no legal limits, as there are for cod and haddock, on the size of monkfish that can be caught, a circumstance that contributes to their depletion through overfishing.
(B) There are no legal limits on the size of monkfish that can be caught, unlike cod or haddock, a circumstance that contributes to depleting them because they are being overfished.
(C) There are legal limits on the size of cod and haddock that can be caught, but not for monkfish, which contributes to its depletion through overfishing.
(D) Unlike cod and haddock, there are no legal size limits on catching monkfish, which contributes to its depletion by being overfished.
(E) Unlike catching cod and haddock, there are no legal size limits on catching monkfish, contributing to their depletion because they are overfished.

A is correct.

B - Comparison error - legal size limits are being compared to cods and haddocks.
C - The referent of pronoun its is not clear. Is it cod and haddock or is it monkfish?
D - Comparison error - legal size limits are being compared to cods and haddocks,
E - Comparison error - legal size limits are being compared to catching cods and haddocks.

Nice question

There are no legal limits, as there are for cod and haddock, on the size of monkfish that can be caught, a circumstance that contributes to their depletion through overfishing.

(A) There are no legal limits, as there are for cod and haddock, on the size of monkfish that can be caught, a circumstance that contributes to their depletion through overfishing. ---I really dont like answers with multiple commas...And i was hesitant in picking this chouce..But this is the cream of the crap !!!! Correct answer
(B) There are no legal limits on the size of monkfish that can be caught, unlike cod or haddock, a circumstance that contributes to depleting them because they are being overfished. ----Wrong comparison...Unlike cod and legal limits are compared
(C) There are legal limits on the size of cod and haddock that can be caught, but not for monkfish, which contributes to its depletion through overfishing. so it means that monkfish contibutes to its depletion..its the legal limits which contribute
(D) Unlike cod and haddock, there are no legal size limits on catching monkfish, which contributes to its depletion by being overfished. ----Wrong comparison...Unlike cod and legal limits are compared
(E) Unlike catching cod and haddock, there are no legal size limits on catching monkfish, contributing to their depletion because they are overfished. ----Wrong comparison...Unlike catching and legal limits are compared

I agree with neeraj. This surely was selecting best of the worst.
