gmat prep 2.0 or gmat prep 1?

by gmatguy123 » Sun Apr 08, 2012 2:04 am
Hello everybody,

I had dowloaded gmatprep 1 weeks ago in the hopes of taking it few days before my exam date to see where I was. I am gonna take the gmat this coming Tuesday and was going to take gmat prep 1 tomorrow. But I read somewhere on beathegmat website a review of gmatprep 2 and the author mentioned that there are changes in difficulty and structure of the exam. So, should I take the gmatprep 1 or 2? Or both?

Thanks

Use the GMATPrep1 test.
The changes in the test will not occur until June 5th, 2012. Version 2 addresses these changes. Anyone who plans to take the test after June 5th should use version2.

even though integrated reasoning, which is one of the additions in gmat prep2.0, doesn't go live until june5th, gmat prep2.0 also has 90 new practice questions that don't overlap with any of the OGs and gmat prep1.0. So those new questions may be useful in the preparation.

@ BRENT

So the 400 odd practice questions which comes with GMATprep 2.0 are they also very different from the current standard questions? I am currently practicing those questions and while some seem easy, some, especially CR, seem very difficult to understand.

That's a good point.

The Math and Verbal questions in the GMATPrep 2.0 software should be similar to other official practice questions you've encountered.

Since the GMATPrep software is computer adaptive, you are certain to see questions that challenge your according to your abilities. Working on questions from a book is much different.
