Hi Guys

I will be taking the test within 2 weeks...

Did somebody have a good experience with 800score.com, as it is possible to purchase 5 CAT tests for 25 dollars...

what do you think?

Hi Jack,

Please stay away from 800 score.com tests. Practice using GMAT PREP(its free and reinstall it by deleting the old files on your C:\ to get new questions) in the last 1-2 weeks. Solve gmat sets from mba.com($25 for a set of 3 retired tests). Not a must by any means.

Definitely solve gmat prep exams. Just my 2 cents.

Hey cramya, I already took the 2 free tests of the softwareprogram... What do you mean by getting new Questions? Is that really possible to reinstall the whole program, so that it gets new Questions?

Otherwise, your right 3 tests of MBA.com should be ok for 25 Dollars...

I agree with cramya. My personal experience with 800 test hasn't been good. I took a couple and decided that they are not worth it.
Quant is way more difficult than GMAT level and the questions are unnecessarily twisted and the Verbal is way below GMAT level..

So after two tests i decided to abandon them.

For my money I would buy MGMAT's online exams any day. Either pay for their exams exclusively or just pick up one of the strategy guides and you would get access to their 6 Online CAT's.

If you dont wanna spend anything then you could take one free CAT on their site, another free CAT on Kaplan's site and as cramya said, uninstall the GMAT prep and reinstall it. This way the last three or four times before the exams, you can redo GMAT prep1 and 2 and repeat the tests again, making sure that you have exhausted the question pool.

I have no problem with 800score tests.
In addition to those you can opt for Princeton's, ManhattanGMAT's simulated CAT tests. They are good.

Note: Uninstalling/ Reinstalling will not help; chances of your seeing same questions remain unchanged so you can do it without re-installing GMATPrep. (as Z_I said, you can exhaust all questions of GMATPrep s/w).
Search archives in GMAT strategy area for more info...

the last week before the exam i would do nothing but practice on OG11 or the GMATprep... because you want to get familiar with the original test maker's wording and style of questions. And frankly no practice CATs out there more "accurate" than the GMATprep.. good luck!

I'll keep ya updated... I still have 4 GMAT tests on the KAPLAN CD ROM, and I'll defintely try the freetests on Manhattan and Kaplan Online... and in the last week before the exam, I guess GMAT originals will be a good preparatory...!

I just took one of the Kaplan Tests, that are included in the CD ROM. But honestly I am not really sure if Kaplan or any other non-official test is helping to score better. There were mistakes in the question stems... Not only grammar mistakes but also spelling slips and all that stuff. As I was going through the questions I just realized that these mistakes bring you out of control, so that you can't really focus on what is asked.

Indeed, the Quantitative section had also mistakes!

there was a Data sufficiency question like this:

n* = n ( n -1 )

what is x*?

(1) x^2 = x

I can't remember the second data...

I guess I will buy the paper tests on mba.com. I know they are not CAT but still I guess they provide the best preparatory, as the questions were used before!

Kaplan is really disappointing, I am very frustraded to have thrown money out of the windows!

x(x-1) = 0

This question may be right. Why do u think its wrong?

MBA.COM paper tests are good. I have found the quant to be easier than the current gmat prep quant prob standards but the Verbal is good practice.

I was thinking that too... but still the fact that normally OG doesn't ask questions like this...

I have seen questions like this so that may be the reason why I dint feel so.

Eg: a*b = a+b

What is 2*3?

Quite possible strictly my opnion

In general, I have used Kaplan materials and as a Kaplan user can say that they do have some real good questions which makes u think/be on the lookout for traps. This is the right mode to be in when approaching something like a GMAT.


Go with what u feel most comfortable with. Its just a matter of individual preference. Definitely nothing can beat using the test preps from the actual creators of it.

I agree, those questions are quite common, especially in the higher score range.

Here's another one (I just made this up) --

a#b = (ab+b)^a

What is 3#2?

Answer: (6+2)^3 = 512
