690 (Q49 V34) 90 percentile

by likewhoa » Wed Nov 28, 2007 5:58 pm
Hello~
I took GMAT yesterday and got 690. (It was my first try)
I am just happy with the score but the thing is, i am not so sure if my score is high enough to get me in the safe place in MBA application.
I will apply for French MBA or master of management programs in French business schools. (ESSEC MBA & HEC master of management program)
Since I only have 1.5 years of job experience so far (in the luxury sector -LVMH) and I would like to pursue a career in luxury marketing, French business school programs seem to be the best choice for me.
But would my score of 690 be enough?
I know I can't apply for top US biz schools but some say my score isn't that bad and some say it is...
Since ESSEC MBA and other master of management programs are for candidates who have less than 1 year of job experience, I don't think my lack of job experience wouldn' be a big problem...

Is there anyone who knows about the average GMAT score of those french business schools? (mainly ESSEC & HEC)

Congrats on the great score!

I would check out the websites of the French b-schools you mentioned. Pretty much every b-school website I've ever visited listed average or median GMAT scores. In any event, a 690 should put you in contention!

I've been thinking about applying to HEC myself. I know HEC Paris' mean GMAT is 660 so you're above the mean.

Can you provide us with more information about your coworker (background, country of origin, etc etc.)? HEC is not talked about very much because it is not as well known as some of the top tier US-based schools so any information you can provide would be helpful to our forum members (including me). Thanks!
