GMAT 5 Business Schools

by ellochewy » Tue Sep 27, 2011 11:20 pm
I'm taking my GMAT this saturday and I know that on the test day they're going to ask for 5 schools that I would like to send my score to. Can someone please explain to me what this means?
From what I understand, I would be sending my score in advanced to different schools that I one day would like to attend? And these schools will keep my score until the day that I actually apply?

Does anyone have any recommendations of which schools I should apply to? I got a cumulative GPA of 3.6 and a major GPA of 3.7

Thank you so much!

Consider it as a $28 saving activity.

You are appearing for GMAT to apply to some B Schools. Some people are sure of their schools, based on their dream, mock paper scores etc. They choose the colleges a forehand. Because if they dont they will have to send their scores after the GMAT for which GMAC will charge $28 per college.

Tell us 3 three things, Mock Score you are getting,Goals and Dream schools (which you think you can reach).

I like to follow the form -

1 Safe Reach School
3 On Line School
1 Dream School

ALL these schools based on mock scores and profile

My mock GMAT score has been around a 650-660

I haven't really done enough studying to figure out what my safety/reach schools are yet. I really like NYU, University of Illinois, and UC Berkeley, but they all seem like a little stretch for now.

So even if I'm not planning on applying to business school for another 4-5 years, this choice is still important because it'll save me money in the future when I'm applying?

You could go with Texas Mays, Smeal(Penn State). With 650 and a good application, Sunny Buffalo can be a safe reach.

2011 NYU: 680-760: average GMAT 719- would be tough however last five year average gmat score is 551 so this seems like a safe chice for you. If you score above 700 you can be in a secure position gmat wise for top schools if not you should look at tier 2 schools and add them to the list

Subha has suggested the best way for making a choice.

1 Safe Reach School
3 On Line School
1 Dream School

Adding to it, always look at the middle 80 percent and not the median or mean for this choice.
