Question regarding GMATPrep Exam Pack 1

by gmatquant25 » Mon Feb 03, 2014 2:23 pm
Hi , I have a simple question : Can I take GMATPrep Exam Pack 1 tests multiple times, i.e Take each test at least twice and expect to see only a handful of repeats?

Or, should I go for MGMT CATs or veritas new 5 series CAT along with GMATPrep Exam Pack 1?

Kindly Advise.

Thank you !

Hi gmatquant25,

If your goal is to test/measure your GMAT scoring level, then you should not retake a practice CAT that you've already taken. Even a few "repeat" questions will change the parameters of the exam and likely lead to an artificial, inflated score that is unrealistic. If, however, your goal is just to practice question, then you can feel free to retake the CAT as many times as you'd like.

Hello Rich , Thanks for the advise . I 'm thinking of writing the 2 Mocks to gauge my scoring level , and then practice couple of more times to just extract more questions . This would help me develop test endurance too .

Can any one comment on Veritas 5 CAT series ? How good is that compared to MGMT CATs?

Thanks !

Yes, you can take these tests multiple times, and yes, you will see some repeated questions , but not that many (about 5 or 6 per section). If you're interested, I wrote an article for BTG on this exact topic: https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/2010/03/ ... iple-times

In my opinion, the GMATPrep practice tests (free from https://www.mba.com/the-gmat/download-fr ... tware.aspx) are the best for gauging your skills, because they use official GMAT questions and the official GMAT scoring algorithm. Sure, seeing repeated questions may skew your score, but only if you do something silly, like answer the question in 5 seconds (based on your recollection of seeing it earlier). However, if you allot 2 minutes to answering a repeated question, your score won't be that skewed (that's if you even remember the solution)

Cheers,
Brent
