hi ,
i gave the free veritas exams online yesterday and i got 29 correct in Math out of 37 and 16 correct in verbal out of 41 . Total = 45/78
But the veritas calculator calculated my score to be 490 out of 800 whereas the convention books state the score as 580 .
please let me know the correct thing

Best Regards,

Hi there,

I believe the confusion is resulting from raw score vs. scaled score.

If you got 29 right, that is your raw score for the section. The scaled score is computed based on the computer adaptive nature of the test. The scaled score does not directly correspond to the raw score. You could miss the first bunch of questions then get the last 29 right, which would probably give you a low score since at the point you get things right, the questions are relatively easy. Or, you could get the first 29 right and then just miss hard questions, which would probably give you a higher score.

If the practice test gave you a composite score of 490 I would trust that.

As an aside, don't let yourself get too caught up in the mechanics of scoring. I have found that what gets scores up is focusing on the fundamentals of the problems.

Best wishes,

Tatiana
