Please note a mistake in the answer for example Problem 5 on Page 9. The answer should read 72, not 54. 24 is the lowest common multiple of 4,6 and 8. The wire is cut into three parts. 3(24) = 72.

A total length of 54 would give a non - integer length (thus non-integer section lengths) for the third part of the wire, where it is split in 8

Please observe that the answer to Problem 5 on Page 9 contains an error. The correct response is 72, not 54. 24, the lowest common multiple of 4,6 and 8, is the lowest possible value. The wire is divided into three sections. 3(24) = 72.

A total length of 54 would result in a non-integer length (hence non-integer section lengths) for the third segment of the wire, which is divided into 8 segments.
