SC Qs

by Crystal W » Sun May 15, 2016 7:05 pm
Although Willian Pereira first gained national recognition for his movie set designs, including those for Reap the Wild Wind and Jane Eyre, future generations will remember him as the architect of the Transamerica Tower, the Malibu campus of Pepperdine University, and the city of Irvine.

This is the right sentence and the underline part is from including to remember. I do not know why I cannot use the message buttons. My question is why the sentence use "will remember", I believe it should use "would remember" because of "gained". Am I right?

Thanks in advance!

Will is used for edefinite actions and would is used if action is depending on some constraints like:

I will go to sleep.

I would go to sleep if music is not so loud.

So in this case, as he has already gained some praise, for sure future generations will remember him.

I hope this helps.

William Pereira has built the sets and is already popular because of some sets.
Hence we have a definite action here. So we use will.

Would on the other had shows hypothetical situations.
"If William would have built famous sets he would have been popular with the future generations."

Hope this helps.
