Very Good Score

Hi apshma,

Your Score looks solid as your mail sounds. I am sure that you are Confident but not Over Confident which is quite evident in your post.

Well... Even after scoring 720, if you are thinking of retaking the test, i guess your target is way beyond normal junta given the fact that your other credentials are Above Average as told by you which also play an essential role in the admission process.

Just now, registered myself in this group as i have decided to take my GMAT in August and this is my first post over here.

What i would like to know from you is, for the next 2 months, i want to concentrate on my English. As a non native English speaking candidate, i would like to know your suggestions for brushing up my skills. Wanna read as much as i can but i don't know what to read and how to capitalize on what i read. So, any guidance in this regard is much appreciated.

Good Luck for your next step towards MBA ... !

Cheers,

Thanks bh_bf! Given that you plan to take the test in August, you have plenty of time to prepare! For the verbal, obviously people take different approaches depending on their skills. But here are my 2cents:

RC: Since you have some time, reading quality stuff may help to get 'in the loop'. Sources may include The Economist, McKinsey Quarterly, FT/WSJ editorials etc. As you reach closer to the test date, I would advise to start going through the RC 1000 series. Also, some people claim that practicing LSAT series is more useful.

CR: Most test takers are good in this section, so going through the OG should be fine. If you like, you may also go through the CR bible.

SC: Again since you are good on time, I would advise to read a good grammer book before touching the Manhattan SC book. Closer to the date you may start going through the usual materials like OG, Tests, 1000 series etc.

Hope it helps. Good luck!

PS: Given that I was short on time in my preparation, I had not followed any of the points mentioned above. The opinion mentioned above should be read as - 'If I had to redo the whole thing, and had 6 months of buffer'.

Hi apshma,

Thanks for your 2 cents and i am sure that i can make good money using those two cents :D

You suggested to read so and so for CR & to start with a grammar book for SC as i ahve good amount of time. Thats absolutely fine.

As you very clearly pointed out 'people take different approaches depending on their skills' ... Here, my target is to acquire 3 skills while i read some QUALITY content .... Try to understand the grammar, Try to understand the content and last but not the least learn doing first two points while reading very faaaast .... !!!

So, apart from Economist, McKinsey Quarterly, FT/WSJ If you have any other reference to few book titles ... you are most welcome to suggest them to me.

By the way I have no idea what LSAT is all about? sorry for my ignorance :-(

I will be using your next post as reference and no question further ... just read read read :-)

Thanks again for your time my friend ... !!!

Cheers,
bh_bf

I am afraid, I can't think of any material other than what I have already mentioned in my previous posts. There are some good grammer related websites, which I don't remember now. Look for them in this fourm.

Rohit, I'm not sure why you would expect anyone to respond to your requests. Many people on this forum have given very good advice about which sources are useful for GMAT preparation, and I don't understand why you don't purchase the materials you are interested in. Most GMAT material available in digital form is copyright protected, so you are asking people to do something which is likely illegal. In any case, I would not like to see this forum, which has been such a valuable resource for test takers in part because of its association with the leading GMAT test prep companies, to become a nexus for illegal document sharing; if it did, there's no doubt companies would discontinue their involvement, and I'm sure this kind of activity runs counter to the principles on which this community is founded.

And congratulations, apshma, on an excellent score!
