Need Help with Quant! Please some one!

by IknowIcan » Fri Jun 08, 2012 3:11 pm
Hi all,

I have a test booked for July 18th. I am getting better at Verbal hitting 38 from 35 in the past. For quant I am hardly hovering in the 40's. My problem is timing on the Quant. I can do well but miss a ton of questions. My weakness is in following areas:

1) Inequalities
2) Divisibility
3) Combinations
4) Sequences and Series

Again, I can easily handle the basic questions but if they get more complicated, I end up taking a while, ending up missing a number of questions in the end. I have all the books Manhattan and OG's. The other problem is that I seem to forget the quick methods if I don't review them regularly. Is that normal? I almost feel like I need to go over all the concepts every other day to stay on top of it. Can someone please guide me how I should deal with my situation? I am planning on taking the Manhattan gmat tests but I have heard they are super hard and take forever. If I do take those tests, will I kill my confidence? How can I build stamina and solve faster? How often should I practice Quant questions?

Thanks!

I don't think that taking the MGMAT tests will kill your confidence. I took a MGMAT and Knewton cat 2 days apart and scored 90 points higher on the MGMAT, without reviewing anything in between the two tests. (I took the MGMAT test first, then once I realized my quant score needed significant improvement, I purchased Knewton. Before you start Knewton, you have to take a diagnostic test). I've also heard that MGMAT scores are pretty accurate, although I haven't taken the official GMAT yet, so I can't personally compare them.

Anyway, I think if you want to do well on the quant on the official GMAT, you should practice with challenging questions.
