Cyclists

by Vemuri » Sun Mar 01, 2009 5:18 pm
Touring professional cyclists have been shown to have between 4 and 11 percent body fat. If we could all decrease our body fat to that level, we could all cycle at a world-class level.

Which statement(s) below accurately describe the flaw in the method of reasoning used in the above argument?

I. It assumes a causal relationship between two highly correlated events.
II. It suggestss that low body fat is a sufficient condition rather than a necessary condition for becoming a world-class cyclist.
III. Its conclusion is based on evidence which, in turn, is based on its conclusion.

A. I only
B. II only
C. I & II only
D. II & III only
E. All of the above

I reckon A..

II- it assumes that 4-11 % body fat is necessary and sufficient
III- No circular reasoning here.

I'm pretty confident that B is correct answer.
