Course CATs vs. Book/CD CATs

by Donkey_man_88 » Sun Nov 09, 2008 9:08 pm
Hello,

I know there have been some questions surrounding the validity of the CATs from Kaplan. I know the CATs on the CD are skewed lower, but what about the CATs from the course? Are these more in-line with potential GMAT scores? I'm just wondering because the CATs from Kaplan do not seem to be harder than the real thing (took the test a year ago). My goal is to score 700+. My scores so far:

Diagnostic - 700 (42Q 43V)
CAT 1 - 680 (49Q 35V)
CAT 2 - 710 (49Q 41V)
CAT 3 - 730 (48Q 49V)

I'm trying to see where I am right now. I have a month left before my exam. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi,

You are correct-- the CATs for our courses, i.e. CATs taken online instead of on the CDROM, have the most up-to-date and accurate scoring. We continually test and assess our online CAT scoring to ensure its validity and predictive nature, and you can use your best and most recent scores to provide you with a feel for how you are doing.

Hope that helps, and let us know if you have any other questions. Good luck with your studies (it appears things are going well so far!)
