Consulting Schools - Part Time

by GoBlue » Sat Apr 13, 2013 1:04 pm
Hello,

I have narrowed down my school choices to Kellogg and Ross. I am looking for part time evening MBA programs and want to focus on Entrepreneurship and Consulting. Both the schools fit my needs and I have competitive scores for these. However, I am about 6.5 hours from Chicago and roughly 2.5 hours from Ann Arbor. Due to some personal constraints, I cannot leave my current job and cannot move to these locations. If I were to get admitted to both the programs, is there a huge difference between these two schools ? In other words, is it worth driving extra 8 hours each week just because of Rankings in Financial Times or Business Week. I want the best for my career, but is the difference in branding / recognition / post MBA benefit enough between these 2 to make me choose Kellogg over Ross ?

I want to get a perspective from Admission Consultants and my fellow gmatters who can help me decide.

Thanks

Tough call. Is it worth it for you to drive XXX more time to the better school? Really only you can decide that, based on what is going on in your life, how you feel about both schools, and whether you feel Ross can get you what you want (I mean career-wise). If it is "just for the ranking" then no, it's not worth it, but if it is because Kellogg will offer you better opportunities, then yes.

Before you make your decision, I would suggest visiting both schools if you haven't already and talking with as many people as possible from both programs, especially those who come from your industry or who had similar goals as you.
