Changes in sea level are not only a result of changes in water temperature, affecting water density, but of melting glaciers as well.
(A) are not only a result of changes in water temperature, affecting water density, but of melting glaciers as well
(B) not only result from changes in water temperature, which affect water density, but also when glaciers melt
(C) are a result not only of changes in water temperature, which affect water density, but also the melting glaciers
(D) result not only from changes in water temperature, which affect water density, but also from the melting of glaciers
(E) result from not only changes in water temperature, affecting water density, but as well as when glaciers melt
OA: B vs D. Please discuss in detail. My doubt is this that isn't not only result from x but also result from y is the right construction or result not only from x but also y is correct usage?????
A good question to show that WHICH need not necessarily refer to the immediately preceding noun before comma. In such cases it will refer to the noun subject of the prepositional phrase before the comma. In this sentence, CHANGES IN TEMPERATURE is the prepositional phrase before comma and WHICH needs to refer to the CHANGESIN TEMPERATURE to retain the meaning. A and E choices have a modifier issue, which means that the modifier can refer to CHANGES IN SEA LEVEL and CHANGES IN TEMP.

There are lot of problems in OG with not only ... but also usage ...
not only of/on (preposition) ... but also of/on (preposition) ...
not only damage (verb) but also destroy (verb) ...
I missed few problems considering only the not only but and not the remaining part . If there are any options having parallel structures for words following not only but also - watch out for them as well.

Getting defeated is just a temporary notion, giving it up is what makes it permanent.
