Practice 2-
The following appeared in a memorandum from the business department of the apogee Company:
“When the apogee company has all its operations in one location, it was more profitable that it is today. Therefore the Agogee Company should close down its field offices and conduct all its operations from a single location. Such centralization would improve profitability by cutting costs and helping the company maintain better supervision of all employees.”

Discuss how well reasoned you find this argument. In your Discussion be sure to analyze the line of reasoning and the use of evidence in the argument. For Example, you may need to consider what questionable assumptions underlie the thinking and what alternative explanations or counterexamples might weaken the conclusion. You can also discuss what sort of evidence would strengthen or refute the argument, what changes in the argument would make it more logically sound, and what, if anything, would help you better evaluate its conclusion
Answer: -

In the memorandum, the author states that the apogee company is more profitable when all its operations are centralized in one location rather than having different field offices. It is then concluded that the centralization will cut down costs and increase the supervision of employees. This plan is likely to fail due to the flaws in the reasoning and logic.

The memorandum suggests shutting down field offices and centralizing the operations this suggestion is extremely flawed as it will result in a negative impact on the whole operation. Reducing the offices will lead to increased work load. Staff will further be unsatisfied by the job and efficiency of completing the job will reduce.

Secondly, with reduced efficiency and unsatisfied overworked employees the lead time to deliver the service will increase leaving the clients unsatisfied. Which will further result in loss of clients and indirectly affect the revenue of the company.

In addition to the above assumption, by shutting down the field offices the company will lose the potential revenue that those offices would have gained. Thus, reducing the potential gains in the future. The company would also loose the spread and reach into the market with the help of offices in field area. Thus, resulting in loss of clients and reduced market reach.

In conclusion, it maybe true that reducing the number of offices and centralizing operations would increase profitability but the author hasn’t taken into account the impact of the service delivered and the client-employee satisfaction, rendering this inference invalid.

Your analysis brings up some critical points about the flaws in the argument for centralizing operations at Apogee Company. Considering these aspects is crucial, especially when tasked to write my essay You've highlighted how the suggested approach could lead to increased workload, decreased job satisfaction, and reduced efficiency among employees. Moreover, the potential impact on client satisfaction and revenue loss due to increased lead times and reduced market reach is a significant concern that the memorandum fails to address
