Real GMAT Exam- OG and the PREP Test

by Brenpat » Fri Feb 11, 2011 12:59 pm
This is the crucuial question and I get mix answers.

I am writing on March 21st and am almost done with the OG ( Quant Part). In next few weeks, I will go through the Verbal part and then the GMAT Prep.

What I wanted to know is this: how close is the real exam to the above mention resources? Some say not so close and some say it is.

I dont have the time to do other tests and frankly, I am tired of the GMAT. I am not hasing 750+. All I need is between 600-650.

Do you guys think if I were to focus on the two above sources, I should be okay on the test day ( hopefully, I am able to control my nerves)..

Thanks again in advance,

BrenPat

The OG and the Prep Test could get you to a 600 to 650. The questions are from the old GMAT tests so they do match up closely, just not with the most difficult problems that you will see on test day. For that you will need to have other resources. If you run out of those you can get the Verbal Review 2nd Edition, also by GMAC. If you want tougher problems and some strategy - in case you need some - you can check out the Veritas Critical Reasoning Books.

I think the best source is the official guide and the gmat prep, it does no matter whether you already did the exams of the CDGmat prep. Do them again, I really got what I had on those gmat prep. Gmatprep has two exams, do each exam at least two times. Do not leave the gmat prep for the end. I did't get the verbal score because I didn't study enough. I think gmat is training so, start training in exams conditions. In the test date, take the breaks, take a deep breath before start and try to control your respiration. that will help you to control your nerves. Guaranteed

1 thing you might want to know is that GMATPrep repeats questions from the OG so your scores would be slightly inflated.

Secondly you search the forum for questions that have been gleaned from GMATPrep - that would prove to be useful too - especially expose you to tougher questions.
