I have not idea what happened. It seemed like entirely different material that what I had studied. I did and re-did the OG book several times and I don't understand why I just froze up on the Quantitative section. I felt rushed and uneasy the whole time.
I don't know what I should do from here...whether i should give up on the GMAT entirely or even my MBA with a score like that. I just don't see how my studying could lead me in this direction.
Totally random question: but is it possible that the GMAC updated their question bank and that since i used the OG 11 that they have switched their questions to the material covered in the latest OG 12? I know that seems out of sight....but I've noticed and read at how the GMAC adjusts their questions when they realize people are on to them.
Anyway, I'm happy that I conquered it and I do feel like I accomplished something, even if its not what I really wanted for the outcome.

DON'T GIVE UP
As someone clever here ( ) said: it's not over until you say it's over
Give yourself a break, and start preparation again. How did you score in your mock exams? Maybe it was just nerves what destroyed you on the test?
And as for OG/GMAT format, I don't think they have changed anything SO dramatically.

According to Manhattan GMAT's analysis (and I purchased the 12OG, so it is correct analysis), the OG really didn't change much. Only about 30% of questions are new and the content covered has not really changed.anniev2 wrote: Totally random question: but is it possible that the GMAC updated their question bank and that since i used the OG 11 that they have switched their questions to the material covered in the latest OG 12?

How many and which practice CATs did you do?
I found that it was good idea to take a bunch of different practice cats from different prep companies because it teaches you to keep your cool when faced with oddball questions.
Over the course of my prep I took 15 practice cats from the following companies: Princeton Review, ARCO, 800Score.com, Manhattan, Veritas and GMATPrep.
That feeling of uneasiness you described is totally natural. If you don't feel like your heart is ready to beat out of your chest while you're taking the GMAT then something is wrong. Tiger Woods once said that the day he stops feeling nervous when playing in a big golf tournament is the day he stops playing golf altogether. Feeling nervous simply means you care.
Keep your spirits high and keep working hard. The GMAT is about perseverance.

Hi,
I would definitely prepare to take the test again. I studied for 2 months, took the gmat and got a 490. I just retook it and got a 590 (43Q 29V). Do not give up..have the focus and the drive and I am sure you will break the 650 mark. Good luck on your studying.

Never give up my friend. Just read the posts on this forum, I just Beat The GMAT, and I am sure you will be inspired and rekindled to conquer GMAT. We don't lose until we give up.
Take a break and then restart. Best of luck.
