Attorney applying to MBA Programs

by jdmba123 » Mon Feb 07, 2011 1:59 pm
I'm a practicing attorney and considering applying to MBA programs this fall. My question is whether or not early 30s (30-32), is too old for a non-business type to apply to top-10 programs.

It really depends on the school. Booth is an example of a school where plenty of older people from non-business backgrounds have been accepted. Sloan, Ross, and Tuck also probably skew a bit older. Stanford and Harvard tend to be a bit younger and HBS supposedly isn't that high on those coming from law but that doesn't mean it's not worth applying if you really want to go there.

I do have a business background but I'm an older candidate (will be 30 at matriculation) and I was fortunate to find success at some top programs so it's definitely possible.
