Solution:

We can let the distance of Anne’s 4 hops or Beth’s 5 hops be 20 feet. So each of Anne’s hops is 5 feet and each of Beth’s hops is 4 feet. Since the time for Anne to take 3 hops is the same as the time for Beth to take 4 hops, then, when Anne hops 3 x 5 = 15 ft, Beth hops 4 x 4 = 16 ft. Since these two distances occur over the same period of time, the ratio of Anne’s speed to Beth’s speed is 15 : 16.

Answer: C
