Almost all of the books published in the past 150 years were printed on acidic paper. Unfortunately, every kind of acidic paper gradually destroys itself due to its very acidity. This process of deterioration can be slowed if the books are stored in a cool, dry environment. Techniques, which are now being developed, to deacidify books will probably be applied only to books with historical significance.
If all of the statements in the passage above are true, which one of the following must also be true?
(A) If a book was published in the past 150 years and is historically insignificant, it will probably deteriorate completely.
(B) Almost all of the books published in the past 150 years will gradually destroy themselves.
(C) Almost all of the books that gradually deteriorate are made of acidic paper.
(D) If a book is of historical significance and was printed before 150 years ago, it will be deacidified.
(E) Books published on acidic paper in 1900 should now all be at about the same state of deterioration.

conclusion:
rest of the Options are out of scope
Techniques, which are now being developed, to deacidify books will probably be applied only to books with historical significance.

I'll make an attempt, hope it goes right...

(B) Almost all of the books published in the past 150 years will gradually destroy themselves. I guess this is correct.
(C) Almost all of the books that gradually deteriorate are made of acidic paper. The passage does not say that acidic paper is the only cause,
(D) If a book is of historical significance and was printed before 150 years ago, it will be deacidified. No, only the books which were produces acidically will be deacidified, moreover it uses ''before 150'' , whereas the wuestion says ''in the past 150 years''...!!
(E) Books published on acidic paper in 1900 should now all be at about the same state of deterioration. No, if some books have been kept in a cool and dry environment, then they might not be in the same state, maybe better...!!
Cheers ..!!

B is not out of scope,, the books were printed in the past 150 years, so they are acidic, and the process of destroying can be slowed, but it is inevitable, so they WILL destroy themselves....

I feel E is the answer.
A & B: Doesn't talk about acidic paper
C: Wrong logic, there may be alternative too
D: Again, no talk of acidic paper
E: They will all be at same state of deterioration at some point of time, if they are published in last 150 yrs, and on acidic paper. Correct.

I think the answer is A
Book in the past 150 (printed on acidic paper) years and significant ---> will be deacidify
B) says all books in the past 150 therefore that were printed on acidic paper will gradually destroy themselves. This is wrong because those that are significant will be deacidify
C) Almost all of the books that gradually deteriorate are made of acidic paper. We only have information about the books in the past 150 years. If another book is deteriorate we don't know the reasons.
D) If a book is of historical significance and was printed before 150 years ago, it will be deacidified. We only consider books in the past 150 years not before.
E) Books published on acidic paper in 1900 should now all be at about the same state of deterioration. The argument does not say anything about the grade of deterioration.
A) If a book was published in the past 150 years and is historically insignificant, it will probably deteriorate completely. The book is on acid and because is not significant it won't be deacidified. Therefore the book will probably deteriorate completely.

I agree with the OA and the reasoning above.mikeCoolBoy wrote: A) If a book was published in the past 150 years and is historically insignificant, it will probably deteriorate completely. To answer this,
Yes the argument does mention that Almost all books in the past 150 years were acidic, but the second half of the answer choice uses the word "probably" which indicates that the books in the past 150 years which were not acidic, would not deteriorate.chintanjadwani wrote: (A) If a book was published in the past 150 years and is historically insignificant, it will probably deteriorate completely. Some of the OA in 1000 Series are not correct, you must take advice from some expert.
I don't say that what I have answered is correct, but definitely going by my experience, you should not trust 1000 CR's
