Admitted to Hofstra MBA with GMAT 500???

by Johnny Fire » Tue Jul 08, 2014 7:03 am
I decided to apply to some MBA programs on spring 2013.
As an international student, I had to take TOEFL (95), then I started study for GMAT with no really ambitions, considered that I was working and I was full of extra-work activities.
My first GMAT, took at the end of the year, was really poor: 460, using Kaplan and Princeton Review.

I restarted studying to retry it, but again with not much time to really do it as I wished.
My second GMAT, at the end of May, had a result of 500 (I was more confident with everything, but I honestly studied really a little bit...just because I had no time to do it.)

I applied just to two Schools of Business, with no ambitions at all: Hofstra and Northeastern.

I also booked my flight to London in September, to go there, say goodbye to my job and all of my activities (music, theatre, sports) and seriously study to retake for a last time the GMAT, and grab a score of at least 650. I thought I NEEDED to take that kinda score to be accepted anywhere, in order to overcome my GPA, of 2.7.

I couldn't believe when Hofstra accepted me, a week ago.

How could it be possible?? I mean, I have 4 years of work experience, I've been abroad, I speak fluently 4 languages (mine is italian), but who could have imaged that??

Anyone with similar experiences?

By the way, even if I imagined to need this wonderful site more than I did, I wanna thank beatthegmat.com for the great help that gives to many people.
