Accepted to IESE with a 640 GMAT!

by hk » Tue Feb 16, 2010 9:38 am
Guys, I'm on cloud 9 right now! Extremely thrilled with the acceptance!

I took GMAT thrice and never scored more than 640 but nonetheless applied with the score. IESE was my top choice school and i can't be happier! This just goes to prove that a low GMAT score will not and should not determine your future!

I would like to thank Eric and all the amazing people at BTG who help me and supported me throughout my b-school application journey!

Please feel free to post any queries and i'll be more than happy to answer them!

Cheers and best wishes,

Hari

Thanks a lot guys. And yes i agree Barcelona is a beautiful city and I can't wait to go there.
Here is a brief on my profile:

Age: 26
Gender: Male
Current Location: NJ
Nationality - Indian
GMAT: 640
Academic numbers: 75% UG (engineering); 3.6 Masters in EE
Full Time Work Experience: 4 years
Application year: 2010
Current job: Engineering consultant (R&D), (Fortune 10 company)
Other activities: 12 yrs in the non-profit sector (not a penny in earnings, i swear), Serving on the board of a non-profit, UN volunteer, Avid blogger, Social media enthusiast, aqua-culturalist and i speak 6 languages.

I applied to IESE in Round 1 (deadline:Oct 25th) and got interviewed on the last week of November. After that i was waitlisted and invited to attend an Assessment Day in NYC. The AD in NYC was on Jan 31st (yup i had to wait 2 months for this). This was a great experience as i could meet many applicants and potential candidates. The day consisted of a lot of team activities and there were 3 adcom members facilitating the event. After that I received their acceptance mail in the first week of February!

I used to live close to old bridge - lawrence harbor. Just moved to Edison last year. Nah I wouldn't know anybody from those times! :)

Thanks again.

Hi hari,

Congratulations on your admit! I've heard good things about this school in general.

I was just lurking through the IESE site today. I found that they help you assess your application whether you stand a good chance in IESE before you actually apply, which is pretty good. Normally, people unknowingly submit their applications and wait for a response or people take that extra effort to foresee their chances. Did you ever do this when you applied? How effective is this process?

What is the process in Assessment day? I've never heard of this in any school. How serious is this process?
