If we let p = Pete’s current age, then 13p = Bill’s current age. We can create the equation:

13p + 9 = 4(p + 9)

13p + 9 = 4p + 36

9p = 27

p = 3

Since Pete is currently 3 years old, in 2 years, he will be 5 years old.

Answer: C
