770 (Q51 V44) + some tips and thoughts...

by ryanwei » Sat May 16, 2009 7:34 am
770 (99th)
Q: 51 (99th)
V: 44 (97th)

(FRI May 15, Toronto)

I must say that the Beat the GMAT community has been quite helpful during my battle with GMAT, and I'm glad I finally beat it!
I really appreciate all the help and support I got from BeatTheGMAT, so now is the time to give back to this community and pass on the favor...

Some study materials and learning resources I used include:
- OG 11th
- Practice tests from the usual suspects: Manhattan GMAT, Kaplan, Princeton Review (which I found to be the easiest) as well as websites such as GMAT Score and GMAT Live (but use these at your own risk as scores tend to be heavily skewed in either direction, or at least in my case...)
- Plus some forum Q&A posts

Some tips for the test day:
- It's ok to start a little early whenever you feel ready
- You'll get markers and an erasable writing pad (sure not as effective as scratch paper), if you run out of space, don't waste time erasing it, just ask for a new one (of course they'll take away the old one)
Lessons learned:
- Manage your time wisely during optional breaks as no watch is allowed in the testing room. I ran over during both of the 2 breaks and had the time deducted from the Quant & Verbal sessions =(

Being a college junior whose first language is not English, I cannot complain about my score with 1-month preparation while working full-time.
I am grateful for all the help, knowledge and support I received from this BeatTheGMAT community and look forward to hearing your insights on the application process and the rest of the journey...

My best wishes and a big Thank-you to all of your guys~
Best of luck on Beating the GMAT!
