770 (Q49, V46)

by Shiva » Tue Dec 04, 2007 8:32 am
It's a good score, to be sure, but I think I could have done better. I finished the Quant section with over 20 mins remaining, and the Verbal with 35 mins remaining. I thought I got very few, if any, questions wrong, so I must have made some silly mistakes. If I'd just spent a few more seconds on each problem, I might have been able to get a higher score.

35 minutes and 20 minutes remaining? So you finished the Q and V portion with 33% less time than just about everyone else and scored in the 99.99%. Wow. Just wow.

CONGRATULATIONS!

(Too bad the official report doesn't mention how fast you destroyed the GMAT huh?)

I basically just took a ton of tests:

MGMAT: 760
GMAT Prep1: 770
PR: 750
Kaplan: 710
GMAT Prep2: 780

I have a strong math background (physics major), so the tests were enough to force me to refresh my memory. The biggest thing for me was getting used to the format (and data sufficiency questions), which, again, taking lots of tests helped with.

Hi Shiva,
What can I say?!? If GMAT had one more section you probably had enough time to murder it as well in the 55 minutes you spared! I have never heard of such a performance in that amount of time! Congratulations! Good luck with your apps. BTW I feel ashamed when you say you took a ton of tests - which is (just (for me)) 5. By that measure, I have already completed over 2 tons of tests and still struggling to touch 700! :)

Heh, I would have taken more, but I ran out of free tests to take and didn't want to pay for any

Hi Shiva,
Congratulations for the great score :D , I do understand Quant getting over with 20 mins to spare, but how did u finish the Verbal section with 35 mins remaining :!: :!: , How did u tackle RC's & CR's so quickly, I'm really short of words to appreciate this accomplishment, hey can you please share any insights on ur Verbal prep, preferably with an emphasis on how to speed through RC's & CR's. Eagerly waiting for ur reply

Thanks very much.
Regards
Samir

There is another guy here with Q50 and V47 with 770 and Shiva has 49 and 46. What am I missing?
