730

by ketaki6 » Mon Sep 19, 2011 2:32 pm
I took the exam today after taking the beatthegmat 60 day course, well i wasnt very obedient, i slacked in between, but i caught up again and this time with increased vigour. All in all, I think I studied for 1.5 months.. I got a 730. Q-48 (80 Percentile), V-42(95 Percentile), overall 96 percentile. I'm still a little confused as to how I made it. I completely panicked in the Quant section like I always do and ended up guessing on the last 10 questions, but I guess my guesses were good (utterly random guesses btw, just clicked on anything) or I had answered everything correctly in the beginning.

Just wanted to make a point that the beatthegmat course and forum is absolutely great!

Cheers

Glad to hear the 60-Day Study Guide helped you.

The part about guessing the last 10 questions and still getting an awesome score (congratulations by the way!) is worth remembering if there are students out there who consider cancelling their score at the end of the test. You never really know if those guesses helped, hurt or had no effect on your score.

Side story: When I was a high school math teacher, I used to make all of my students participate in the country-wide math contest each year. Of course, some students resented this, and I once had a girl complete the multiple-choice test in about 30 seconds and then read her book for the remaining 59 minutes (much to my annoyance).

When the results came back, she had the highest mark in the school. It was uncanny how she guessed so many correct answers.

Cheers,
Brent

I guess I was lucky. Also, I'm quite sure my answers preceding those 10 were pretty much correct.. (they had to be, i spent SO much time on them).

One thing that is bothering me though is that I didnt click next on the argument essay and it timed out. I was just proof reading. Will my essay get accepted?

Hi congo

this is a awesome score....Which all books did you refer and how many hours in a day did you study?

Don't look for the incorrect things that you have done rather look for remedies....

Brent, I got a 6/6 on my AWA. While I am really happy, I am wondering if it is something to be happy about. Do B schools really care beyond a 4?

6/6 is awesome (perhaps the better word is "perfect" :-)

I don't really know much about the weight that B-schools give to the AWA scores, although a 6/6 certainly doesn't hurt.

Cheers and congratulations,
Brent

I remember something similar to this happening on GMATprep. As far as I remember, a BTG member named SHOVAN marked 26 out of his 1st 27 questions correct on gmat prep Q and then randomly guessed next 10 questions getting almost all of them incorrect still to end up with a Q49 !!!!

I think the R&D on GMAT prep wasn't a waste of time after all.
