730 (Q: 50, V: 38)

Hi All,

I took the GMAT today and was quite happy with the score. This forum has helped me a lot during my entire preparations. Here is a short summary of what all I studied from:

Material Used:
1. Kaplan Premier Program 2007
2. Princeton Review 2007
3. Kaplan 800
4. Official Guide 11th Ed
5. Little bit of Nova GMAT
6. Lots Lots and Lots of questions from our own BTG.
7. Flash cards from BTG and Manhattan
8. Difficult math problems word file downloaded from BTG.
9. I found a PDF which contained some 150+ difficult GMAT prep question. Whoever put it together did a great job. <Attached to this post>

How I used this Forum:
I subscribed to the RSS feed of this forum. Every time new questions were posted, they would show up in my Google Reader and I kept solving them. It provides very good practice as it is a mixed bag of questions, all usually >600 level and the experts on this forum provide wonderful explanations. Stuart, Ian, Stacy and other experts have some gems of wisdom hidden in these threads of the forum.

Time to Prepare:
1 month in November 08, 1 month in May 09. Took a 1 week vacation from office and studied continuously for 7 days in a row. This really helped my scores.

So, I would just summarize by saying that BTG rocks!!! This is the best think that ever happened to GMAT preparation. There are other forums, but somehow, I like this one the best.... Thanks to everyone who helped by posting questions and clarifying doubts.

I am not sure what else should I mention here. Please feel free to PM me for anything required. All the best for your exams.

Cheers,
Ankit

congrats on that score and good luck with ur apps...

it would great if you can tell us the practice tests u took along with their scores!

could u recall the kind of statistics(mean, median, mode) , probability and combination questions that appeared in the test.. since u scored a 50 in quant i am sure these questions must have appeared in the test...

yeah dude congrats on a great score and good luck with your apps!

yup, it will be awesome if you can post your practice test scores and also a breakdown on what kind of questions appeared on your actual test? anything out of ordinary?

Thanks a lot Guys! Here is the link for the file mentioned in #8.

https://www.beatthegmat.com/answers-to-9 ... 35974.html

I took the Manhattan Free test, Veritas Free test, GMAT Prep and lot of Kaplan sections tests and Kaplan CATs. I used to consistently score in the 680-700 range. The review of the mistakes is more important than taking the test I believe. I gave the GMAT Prep in the last 2 days and scored a 740 and 720 respectively. Sorry, don't recall most of the breakups. But quanta has usually been the strong point compared to verbal.

I found the Quanta in the real exam to be quite easier than I expected. I did get a few inequality, reminder and coordinate geometry based questions which I found a little difficult. Surprisingly, very little probability and Permutations / Combination. Oh yes, I did get something about the probability binomial distribution which Stuart has explained in this forums (search by binomial distribution). Statistics was manageable, so were the word problems.

Moderators: I am not sure if I am violating any GMAC or BTG rules by posting the type of questions that appeared in the test. I am assuming topics are ok as long as you are not sharing the actual questions. If I am, please let me know and I will delete the post instantly.

Congratulations on healthy score!

If possible can you please post, little bit about your background, study hours, strong/weak areas in SC, CR, RC? How were the questions in actual test compared to GMATPrep?
