700 - Did I Wharton beat?

by mahesh7 » Wed Sep 02, 2009 11:45 pm
hi

Got the following:

Total 700 (90th percentile)

Verbal 38 (83 percentile)
Quant 47 (78 percentile)
AWA 5.5 (76 percentile)

My dream school is to get into Wharton. So did I beat GMAT or should I retake?

Thanks
Wharton aspirant

700 is surely a decent score. I wouldn't bother to retake too much, as you have that 7 in your score that will surely help you a lot.

Better retake

by caspermonday » Mon Sep 07, 2009 3:08 am
Hi, you scored impressively. However, I would advise that you retake GMAT. It will take less time to improve your score from 700 to, say, 730, than to hit 700 target, and your chances to get to Wharton will increase dramatically. I scored 730 and scheduled a retake.

Cheers,

GMAT Score:750!

I'm a current UPenn grad student applying to Wharton this fall. The director of the program I'm hoping to be admitted to said that "it wouldn't hurt to take the GMAT again" after she learned of my 730. Her opinion was that, although 730 is above average, I had time before the admissions deadlines to take it again and score a few more points. I took it two months later and got a 750.

I'd try it again.
Practice Tests 720, 720, 680 750, 770, 750

Real GMAT 1 - 730 (Q46, V45, AWA 6.0)
Real GMAT 2 - 750 (Q45, V48, AWA 6.0)

Gammacad,

I could be wrong, but I think that the 730 was not the problem, but rather the quant score. It was your breakdown, not your overall score.
