Hello everyone,
I have taken the GMAT 5 times now. It feels exhausted for not getting the desired score. The following are the GMAT scores:-
GMAT 1 - 450 Last year March
GMAT 2-590 Q 42 V 30 Last year November
GMAT 3-480 Q 36 V 24 This year April
GMAT 4-530 Q 29 V 25 This year May
GMAT 5-580 Q 44 V 26 This year June
After the 5th test I just wanted to jump from the test center because I was devastated by my verbal performance. I have had too many worse feelings after the tests because all I wanted was a score of 630 and nothin more. The following are the materials I used:-
OG 11
OG Math
OG Verbal(Partly)
Kaplan Comprehensive
Princeton review
Kaplan 800
Manhattan GMAT-Geometry
Manhattan GMAT SC,RC and CR.
I followed the manhattan techniques of diagramming for CR and the RC techniques of manhattan for the 4th and 5th test. Diagramming did not help me much and consumed a lot of time. I did ok on the SC as well.
I need real help on how I can increase my verbal score. I have an admit for the MBA program at Pepperdine University but because I dont have a strong GMAT score I did not get any scholarships. So I have decided to defer my admission for next year and write the GMAT one last time in December this year. It may sound funny but my target score is a 700 and I would not settle for anything less.
So, all said I have 6 months now and I need strong strategies for attacking the verbal section and some help on the math section as well.
Please help me guys..
I have the old MGMAT CR SC and RC guides. The CR techniques just dint work for me. Should I buy the new MGMAT SC RC and SC guides to improve my on my verbal. Please guys give me your suggestions on how I can improve my Verbal score. I have 5 months left and its really serious this time. Please share your thoughts.
PLs pls pls help

Hi there...u have improved quite a lot in quant and m sure u got enough material for verbal too but i believe wats missing is the strategy to hit the verbal section....dont b surprised but i also started with 9 on verbal to 31 on verbal in 3 months.......so m sure anyone can do it....Cr is tricky but rather than wastin much time on diagramatic techniques I believe its much better if u can try understandin the CR arguments or asumptions and try analysing it in ur own way... the best approach for RC is break the passage for urself.....while reading the passage;conclude each paragraph's meanin in ur mind and try linkin each paragraph's conclusion with one another....as u wil definitely get the question on it...try to make note of important words in whole passage like some complicated word used or anyword used in quotes...if not much;just write down the line no. of that word in ur notes.....it might help u when u go through the questions....i hope it helps...even m not the perfect..me too tryin to improve..

Hey thanks for sharing your thoughts..Its amazing that u improved your score from 9 to 31..it shows clear determination towards having the right strategy..well I was comfortable in analysing the CR arguements in my own way and it did help during my second exam..later I used MGMAT techniques thinking that I would be able to do better but it really dint work out..I will continue using my old method for CR..
Is there anyone else who can give me some more helpful thoughts like this ?

Try the gmax online (www.gmaxonline.com) verbal review. It'll cost you about 299.00. I'm taking their comprehensive review, and I swear by the verbal section. It's an absolute review. Give it a shot. I'm also using the Manhattan booklets, which I find helpful as well. I guess they didn't work out for you, so try a different resource. I've also heard good things about the gmat SC and CR bible www.gmathacks.com
