My GMAT Story (& follow-up question)

by hazpazfaz » Tue Jun 09, 2009 6:16 am
Score needed to get into desired programme (Master of Management - Marketing: 600
Personal goal: 700

After about a month or so preparation and practice CAT test going between 530 & 610, I was getting a bit nervous.

The night before test day I woke up about 4 times, yet I felt ready for the challenge. Got lost in the city so I had to run the last part of my journey, which wasn't really comforting.

Arrived at the test center, started the test and felt the essays were going well. A good start it seemed. First 2 questions on Quant were really really difficult, so I was unsure whether I got answered them correctly. The rest of the Quant appeared to be really, really difficult and my pacing was totally off which led to me rushing the final questions a bit. Between the quant and the verbal I said to myself, you need to have a good verbal score, because the quant went really lousy. Got my focus back and started on verbal, which went OK, not well, just OK. After the verbal section I felt my heart beating in my chest. I clicked next and....I had to fill in some personal details. After that, my results showed up on the screen...

Quantative: 47 (Percentile: 79)
Verbal: 36 (Percentile: 78)
Total: 680

I couldn't believe my eyes, I was really happy. I immediately called my dearest and told them about my score, which for me was pretty high considering the work I put into it...

I would like to thank this community for the information on this website as well as all of the personal stories. They helped me through the GMAT really well.

One last question, I feel like I should be applying for a better school now, but I literally have no money. Does anyone have any advice concerning Business Schools)
