540(Q 46 V 20) :(

by nishantvarma » Wed Dec 29, 2010 7:19 pm
hello,
just gave the GMAT 2 days ago for the first time and i was kicking myself for what happened man.Let me share it with you.

I did not exactly simulate the testing experience and payed for it big time.I used to take a long extended break between quant and verbal in the practice tests(you can get back to verbal any time you want). Now in the real exam there's only a 8-min break between both and the moment i was done with quant,i got up went to my locker..had something to eat and drink and headed to the loo...disaster!!entered 4 mins into the real test...and even though it was only 4 mins...i kept telling myself thats it..i m done for...ive screwed up...and this affects your state of mind..could not concentrate during the rc's...cr's and well you know what exactly happens after that..

So please simulate the real test experience !!!i learnt my lesson the hard way around..

Very sorry to hear your test experience. But the good thing is you now got a fair idea on how the exam is. And now you know how important time management is not only during the exam but also during the breaks. Just work a bit more hard on verbal and I am sure you will come out successfully in the second attempt. Good luck

Sorry to hear that Nishant! But more important is that you have realized what went wrong and am sure will be able to fix it next time you take.

Since R2 deadlines would anyway be over, my suggestion is to space it out and make sure you are scoring well before you take it again.

All the best!

Arun

Sorry to hear about your experience. During break time it's so easy to lose track of time when you are trying to relax and get ready for the next section.
