1000 SC's

by gmat740 » Sun Apr 19, 2009 8:34 am
Hello,
I am just off with my GMAT prep test and I am really not satisfied with the outcome.
I scored Q48 and V24

Although I made 3 to 4 guessing still, I was not able to complete the test in time.

I figured out, time management is the key. I went through some amazing debriefs and it did helped me to build my strategy.

I want to improve on my most critical weakness :SC

I have done MGMAT SC and MGMAT Review, done with flashcards and some notes.

I have 1000 SC's. Do you people suggest to practice it??

I heard from a lot of people that answers given are not authentic.

Please Help

gmat740,

I am not an expert but I believe one should not practice from 1000SC.

reason being:

1. 1000 SC's are dodgy IMO. Its better to practice from reliable sources.

2. No explanations of the SC given. So even if you get wrong you won't able to find out the correct reason why the answer is wrong/correct.

So in nutshell , better look for good resources. Have you completed OG??If you haven't , then it would be good if you start practicing from it.

All the best for your prep!

Cheers
Piyush

Hello Piyush,
Thanks for your reply.

I am done with OG-11. I think I went through the OG QUIET Fast and so as MGMAT SC.

My basic problem lies in Time management.I am not able to complete my verbal.

I think I am giving to much time for RC's and CR.

also, Going through I came to a conclusion that in GMAT exam it is important to make a couple of Guess in order to be on time.

I will now go through the Bangus Brutal Notes for SC.

At least two people on this forum who scored high on the GMAT have said that 1000 SC includes questions for which the "correct" answer is, in fact, incorrect by GMAT standards. Thus, 1000 SC could be a bad influence on us.

Just do a "search" on this forum for 1000 SC. You'll get some interesting and alarming feedback.
